Singapore, 6 July 2010: DHL Express, the world’s leading express company today announced the appointment of Cindy Lau as the new General Manager for its DHL Central Asia Hub (CAH) in Hong Kong. Cindy takes over from Ken Lee who was recently named Managing Director of DHL Express Hong Kong.
Built at a total cost of US$210million, the 35,000m2 DHL Central Asia Hub is one of DHL Express’ three key global hubs in the world and the largest and most sophisticated of its kind in the Asia Pacific region for DHL. "We invested in the expansion of the Central Asia Hub five years ahead of schedule, building one of the most advanced, and efficient hubs in the region. Cindy was instrumental in supporting the expansion of the Hub, and we have no doubt she will do a stellar job in maintaining and improving the high levels of operational effectiveness synonymous with our network", said Stephen Fenwick, Senior Vice President -- Network Operations, DHL Express Asia Pacific, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa.
A 20-year veteran with DHL, Cindy has a proven track record spanning multiple functions within DHL. With a strong background in finance, she started her career at DHL Express Hong Kong, moving to a regional role in Finance and Aviation Finance Management. She joined the Central Asia Hub in 2000 where she headed the finance function before moving on to manage Operations.
The first months of 2010 has delivered a good start to the year for DHL. To support further growth, DHL plans to invest in improvements in the Hub, including an upcoming new customs interface system. Developed internally within DHL, the system further enhances the ease of use and efficiency of customs clearance processes.
