BAE Systems Arranges Lease of Boeing 767 to Loftleidir Icelandic and Wins Lease Management Contract "Our aggressive marketing campaign for this aircraft resulted in a number of firm offers from credible buyers and lessees, which we have been evaluating with the customer…"
Hatfield, Hertfordshire -- 2 July 2010 -- BAE Systems has arranged the long-term lease of a Boeing 767-300ER to Loftleidir Icelandic on behalf of the Presidential Flight of Abu Dhabi. BAE Systems Asset Management has also been appointed as lease manager for the aircraft.
In turn, Loftleidir Icelandic has sub-leased the aircraft to Air Nuigini of Papua New Guinea.
The late model aircraft is a GE-powered CF6-80C2B6F-powered variant and is configured in a high-standard three-class 196-seat interior layout.
The Asset Management business of BAE Systems Regional Aircraft won the exclusive mandate to remarket this aircraft for sale or lease in December 2009. Mr Hamish Davidson, Executive Vice President Business Development for BAE Systems Asset Management said:
"Our aggressive marketing campaign for this aircraft resulted in a number of firm offers from credible buyers and lessees, which we have been evaluating with the customer, and this has resulted in Loftleidir Icelandic securing the aircraft. We expect to announce further remarketing mandates for Boeing aircraft as other asset owners seek to take advantage of our experience in both the wide body and narrow body categories."
Loftleidir Icelandic is the leasing specialist of the Icelandair Group and it currently manages six Boeing 757-200s and two Boeing 767-300ER aircraft which are leased out to customers worldwide.
Air Nuigini is the national airline of Papua New Guinea and currently operates Boeing 757 and Boeing 767-300ER alongside some regional aircraft types. The airline needs this second Boeing 767 as extra capacity until it receives delivery of a Boeing 787 in several years time.
