Antwerp to Host Heavy Lift Freight Forwarding Network

"Polytra has appointed a steering committe to assist in the organisation of this major event that offers many opportunities to establish new business networks and strenghten existing links within the project cargo supply chain..."

Overdimensional 3PL specialists, the Project Professionals Group, will feel right at home when the heavy lift Port of Antwerp hosts the network’s annual conference from June 30 to July 3, next year (2010).

PPG general manager Kevin Stephens said Antwerp was the successful nomination following this year’s conference hosted by the Port of Corpus Christi in Texas.

"PPG is looking forward to meeting in Belgium and at one of Europe’s major heavy lift project cargo ports," Mr Stephens said.

Mr Stephens said he expected up to 150 freight movers, ship owners and related industry companies from over 50 countries to attend the 2010 conference.

PPG has strategic alliances with Shippingchina and pan African freight forwarding group, African Cargo and Logistics Alliance.

PPG member and world leader in international transport engineering, freight forwarding and customs brokerage, Polytra N.V., is the local host assisting with planning the conference.

Polytra N.V. chief ececutive officer, Guy Velge, said the conference represented an opportunity to internationally showcase the port’s capabilities as a major multimodel transportation hub. "Polytra has appointed a steering committe to assist in the organisation of this major event that offers many opportunities to establish new business networks and strenghten existing links within the project cargo supply chain," Mr Velge said.

The Antwerp Hilton is the accommodation venue for the conference and the Antwerp/Flanders Port Training Center will be used for conference presentations.
