Railinc Announces New Umler Training Modules and "Ask the Experts" Webinars

"Railinc wants to make sure that Umler users know how to use the new system on day one," said Alan McDonald

CARY, NC, June 30, 2009 (James Street Media Services)--Railinc today announced that it has launched four on-demand training modules for the new Umler system. The company will also hold three "ask the experts" webinars to discuss Umler-related topics before the new Umler system launches on July 25, 2009.

"Railinc wants to make sure that Umler users know how to use the new system on day one," said Alan McDonald, director of the Umler/EMIS project. "There are lots of training materials and opportunities to interact with Umler experts well before the launch."

The four training modules are designed to help Umler users learn how to perform equipment- related tasks, assign system access rights and perform other administrative tasks. The modules are available on-demand from the Umler project website. There is no charge to use them.

Railinc will also host three "ask the experts" Umler webinars before the launch. The webinars are intended for Umler users who have reviewed the training materials, but still have questions. They will be conducted on July 10, July 17 and July 24, 2009, each at 11:00 a.m. Eastern time. The webinars are free, but registration is required. Participants can register on the Railinc website at www.railinc.com/umler.

The training modules supplement other Umler resources already available online, including a "go-guide", user guide, data spec manual, 20 web demos and the Umler sandbox. The sandbox lets equipment owners and their agents practice the basic functions of the system without incurring any penalties for mistakes. For up-to-date Umler system training, visit www.railinc.com/umler.
